Supporting our Spouse Through Tough Times
"Sometimes we need to process our feelings before we can act on a solution." — Rodney
"Holding the space is saying, 'I am here. Take your time.'" — Li Yen
Every marriage will go through seasons of stress, loss, disappointment or uncertainty.
In this heartfelt conversation, Rodney and Li Yen Chin reflect on how spouses can support one another through difficult times without feeling the need to fix everything. They share how fear of judgement, criticism or appearing weak can make it difficult to open up about our struggles. Often, the most meaningful support comes not from having the right answers, but from being present, listening well, and giving one another space to process emotions.
Drawing from their own experiences, they remind us that everyone copes differently. By respecting those differences and offering patience, encouragement and understanding, couples can continue to walk alongside one another through life's challenges.
Couple Reflection: What helps you feel most supported when you're going through a tough time?
